李大西博士的简介

      李大西博士为国际华人科技工商协会主席，美国凯思比海外创业投资公司董事长，美国东方银行董事。
      李博士为促进中美友好，推动中国高新科技发展和金融改革做出相当的贡献，曾获江泽民主席、胡锦涛主席、朱熔基总理、温家宝总理多次的亲切接见。并应邀担任中国欧美同学会海外理事，中国科技协会中国国际技术交流协会顾问，广东省海交会理事，中国多个重要省市的海外经济顾问。
      李大西生于广东普宁。1975年毕业于华南师院，1980年中山大学研究生毕业，参加中美物理研究生入学考试(CUSPEA)获全国第二名，赴美留学，于1985年获纽约市大学博士学位，1985-1991年历任加拿大麦基尔大学，纽约市大学，纽约理工学院博士后，研究员和副教授。在基本粒子理论中的夸克质量，超弦模型，动力学破坏等方面取得了一定成果。曾应邀于中国、美国、加拿大,德国、英国、日本和意大利等国举行的国际学术会议作报告。1991年后李博士的兴趣转向金融领域，任职于美国著名投资银行所罗门兄弟公司、利曼兄弟公司，作为高级分析员和助理副总裁,参与多项重要IPO和风险投资项目。2000年起任美国凯思比海外创业投资公司董事长，2003年起任美国东方银行董事，有风险投资，银行投资和审核的丰富经验。
      李博士于1997年发起组织国际华人科技工商协会为科技与工商搭桥，为中国和世界搭桥。组织协会专家为中国应付亚洲金融危机以及促进高新科技发展分别出了专书。1998年与中山大学、国家自然科学基金会共同组织了“科技与工商国际研讨会”，与成思副委员长等同任大会主席，对推动中国风险投资行业起了一定作用。1998年，协助广州林树森市长举办首届中国留学人员(广州)科技交流会，任组委会副主任，并率领108名海外留学人员回国参加会议。1999年元旦率领150名海外留学人员访问深圳，同年创立美国凯思比海外创业投资公司，与深圳市政府合资创立了深圳留学生创业园，任副董事长，派出留学人员管理,创业园已有入园科技公司250多个。
      李博士为促进中美关系发展做了一定贡献。2005年三月李博士应邀作为海外特邀代表列席参加第十届全国政协会议。并在会上向中央政府提交了“CASB对中国第十一个五年计划的建议书”。李博士在中国企业改造和海外发展、融资上市方面发挥了相当作用。

Daxi Li was born in Puning, Guangdong of China. He graduated from South China Normal University in 1975, and received MS from Zhongshan University in Guangzhou, China in 1980. He received his Ph.D. in high energy physics from CUNY in 1985, and continued his research in McGill University, CCNY and NYIT as a Research Associate and an Assistant Professor from 1985 to 1991.  His works in physics include dynamic symmetry breaking, quark mass difference, Superstring compactification, and Superstring models. He was invited to present important speeches in many international conferences in US, China, Canada, Italy, Germany, UK and Japan. Since 1992, his research interest has been in finance. He has 14 years of experience in investment banking and venture capital. He worked as a Senior Analyst and Assistant Vice President with major Wall Street investment banks Salomon Brothers Inc. and Lehman Brothers Inc. for over 10 years, and has been involved in many important IPO and VC investments. He is the Chairman of CASB Ventures LLC since 2000. As a Director of Board of United Orient Bank since 2003, he oversees the investment and auditing of the bank.

Dr. Li Founded the Chinese Association of Science & Business (CASB) in 1997. He organized series of important international conferences to promote hi-tech development, venture capital and banking reform in China. Dr. Li and his CASB experts play an important role as consultants for China's policy makers in economy. Dr. Li presented his recommendation about Chinese currency exchange rate and other risk control measures to the Chinese Government in 1997 when the Asia finance crisis just started. He organized CASB experts to write books of "Asian Finance Crisis" and "Internet Innovation and Investment".

He is honored to have met President Jiang Zeming, President Hu Jintao, Premier Zhu Rongji and Premier Wen Jiabao of China. In March 2005 he was invited as an overseas representative to participate in the China National Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, which is one of the four most powerful organizations in China. He presented a book of “CASB suggestions to the China11th Five-Year Plan” to China’s leadership. His recommendations were well received. He is a Economy Advisor of several important Chinese cities. He is a co-founder and Vice Chairman of the Shenzhen Overseas Chinese Student Venture Park, which is a join-venture with Shenzhen city government. The venture park hosts 250 high-tech startup companies. He also plays an important role in overseas financing of Chinese corporations.
